Abstract

The objective of this study is to describe the message equivalence based on the structural element of novel. This data belongs to descriptive qualitative research. It means that this study is collecting the data, then the sentence is arranged, classified and analyzed to get conclusion. The data of this research are narrative original texts and translated novel consisting of element in novel structure. The data source of this research is The Da Vinci Code and Kode da Vinci as the translation. The novel is written by Dan Brown and translated by Isma B. Koesalamwardi. The result of this study are as follows: the equivalence in novel structure that consists of 51 % data of character and characterization; 17,20% data of setting; 2,12% data of point of view; 5,32% data of plot; 1,06% data of theme and the last 11,70% data of style. The non-equivalence in novel structure is found in the character and characterization and the amount is 11,70% data.
