Abstract

This study aims to determine how far Papuan students who are basically living in Yogyakarta describe parenting patterns from parents. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques in this study used an open questionnaire. The sample in this study were 100 Papuan students who were studying in the Yogyakarta area using purposive sampling. Data analysis techniques using percentage calculations. These results can be seen from how Papuan students maintain communication with their families that aims to find out news and seek advice for self-control so that students do not take the wrong step by discussing with their parents, taking care of themselves while away from parents so as not to make concern for parents and understand the meaning of the presence of parents. So that every student hopes one day he will be able to make his parents happy.
