Abstract

This research aims at describing, (1) the implementation of presentation, practice and production technique in teaching reading skill, (2) the result of teaching reading skill by using presentation, practice and production. In achieving the objectives of the research, the writer uses presentation, practice, and production technique which include four steps, namely planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The research is held on SMP N 3 Dawe Kudus. The writer takes the seventh year that consists of 33 students as the subject of the study. There are six meetings in this research, every cycle is conducted in two meetings. The data of the study are the implementation of teaching reading skill. The method of collecting data is test, and observation. After analyzing data, the writer describes, (1) the implementation of presentation, practice, and production technique in teaching reading skill, the students are able to read clearly, answer the question based on the text, (2) the result of the research indicates that the average score of pre-test is 5,2. In post-test, the average of score is 7,6. The result of pre-test and post-test indicates that the students have a significant improvement in reading skill, (3) The students also have positive response, the result of students response and the average score before treatment and after treatment indicates that the students have improvement in reading skill. Thus it can be said that the teaching reading skill by using presentation, practice and production technique is successful.
