Abstract

The major problem of this study is how someone comes to the big decision in her life. Hence, the focus of this research is the structure of personality and anxiety of the major character In analyzing Atonement, the writer uses qualitative method. The object of the study is Joe Wright’s Atonement produced by Working Title Films. The primary data source is the movie itself while the secondary data source is the other sources related to the analysis such as the script, books and movie reviews. The technique of data collection is note taking and scene capturing. The study comes to the following conclusions. Firstly, based on the structural analysis, it is clear that in this movie, Joe Wright suggests the idea that it is never too late to reveal the truth and to do good for others. Secondly, based on the psychological analysis; it is evident that in order to cope with the anxiety, one needs to be honest to oneself and others.
