Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus in a long term caused a complications, which one is diabetic ulcer. Complications of diabetic ulcer in patients with Diabetes Mellitus can give an impact on body image. Body image is closely related in supporting someone's quality of life. This is because quality of life is a condition where a person gets satisfaction or enjoyment in daily life that involves physical health and mental health. This study aims to determine the relationship between body image and quality of life in patients with Diabetes Mellitus with diabetic ulcer in RSUD Ir. Soekarno, Sukoharjo Regency. This research was conducted at the General Regional Hospital (RSUD) Ir.Soekarno Sukoharjo in December 2018 until January 2019. The method used in this study is quantitative by using a cross sectional study design. The population in this study were all of patients with diabetic ulcer in RSUD Ir. Soekarno Sukoharjo. The research sample is 102 respondents with accidental sampling technique. The research instrument is form of a questionnaire and data analysis used is the Spearman Rank correlation test (RHO). The results shown that the p-value of 0.001 with a significance value of 0.417 so Ho was rejected, which means there is a relationship between body image and quality of life in patients with Diabetes Mellitus with diabetic ulcer in the sufficient category. The conclusions of this study are: some respondents have negative body image and poor quality of life and there is a significant relationship between body image and quality of life in patients with diabetic ulcer.
