Abstract

The main purpose of this research is to find out how the influence of macroeconomic variables of foreign debt, gross domestic product, inflation, and the exchange rate of foreign direct investment in Indonesia in 2001-2018. This research is a quantitative study using secondary data based on an annual time series starting in 2001-2018. The data used include data on foreign direct investment (PMA) on (net inflows), data on external debt (ULN) on the total stock of external debt, data on gross domestic product (GDP) at constant prices, inflation data (INF) on prices consumers, and the exchange rate (KURS) to the Dollar. These data are from the World Bank. To prove the research hypothesis the econometric model is used with the OLS (Ordinary Least Square) method which is estimated using the Eviews 8. After the classical assumption test is then performed the model goodness test, namely the model existence test (F test), the validity test of influence (T test), and interpretation of the coefficient of determination (R2) to determine the specification of the effect of each variable individually and jointly. The results of this study indicate that the GDP variable has a positive and not significant effect on FDI, the ULN and INF variables have a positive and significant effect on FDI, while the KURS variable has a negative and significant effect on FDI. Variable foreign debt, gross domestic product, inflation, and the exchange rate simultaneously have a significant effect on direct foreign investment entering Indonesia.
