Abstract

Along with the changing times, the development of technology is needed to follow the market's desire to improve the quality and efficiency of the process of material processing. One of them is the process of connecting to materials using the punch tool. This research carried out the connection process using aluminum rivets with a double punch dies press tool. The connection process to the material is done by pressing method. The rivets used are aluminum thin type rivets measuring 9 mm long and 4 mm in diameter. The material used in the form of 1100 series aluminum. Splicing is done using variations in the mold, which is a half-cylinder mold and flat circle mold. The connection is made 3 times for each connection. The results of the connection will then be measured changes in diameter using a digital microscope and analyzed its structure through micro-photo testing. The results of the average change in diameter, in a half-cylinder punch eye mold, the diameter of the Connection A is 5.4957 mm, the Connection B is 4.9490 mm. Whereas in a flat circle shaped punch eye mold, the change in diameter on the Connection A was 4.9087 mm, in hole B a 4.7015 mm.
