Abstract

The purpose of the research is to describe the application of a scientific approach to accounting in XII grade students at SMK Batik 2 Surakarta. This kind of the research is a qualitative research with an ethnographic approach that lasts two weeks. The subject of this research is the teacher who teaches XII grade of accounting 2 in SMK Batik 2 Surakarta, which totaled 33 students. The methods of collecting data in this research are interview, observation and documentation. The techniques of analysis data used are collection, reduction, presentation, and verification data. The research gains illustrate that the application of scientific approach in accounting study is in accordance with the criteria in Permendikbud no 81a 2013. However, that the application of scientific approach in accounting study has some constraints, namely the first obstacle is there are still inactive students on questions and discussions. The second obstacle is still a growing interdependence of students in the gathering information activity. From these obstacles, teacher should reprimand students who are busy themselves, arouse curiosity and encourage them to be active in the learning process. Teachers should motivate the students to develop a sense of curiosity about what they observe, for example using variety of learning methods because every student has their own uniqueness personality. If no one asks, then it is the teacher who asks the students to be pleasantly educated because all students are active. Key word: learning, application, and scientific approach.
