Abstract

The density of the poor population occurs because the rapid population growth is not matched by the rapid economic growth as well so that arises the density of poor people in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the effect of the HDI, the Contribution of the GRDP of the Industrial Sector, and the Labor Force to the Density of the Poor in Indonesia in 2015-2018, using secondary data using Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis techniques and panel data regression. The results of the analysis with the Geographic Information System (GIS), showed that the density of the poor population was highest in East Java Province. While the panel data regression results show that the FEM model is the most appropriate model used. The HDI variable and the Work Force have a significant effect on the Density of the Poor Population, while the GRDP contribution of the Industrial Sector has no significant effect. Based on this, the government must be able to formulate policies that are more effective in overcoming the density of the poor by providing policies based on equity.
