Abstract

The purpose of this research is to present learning media-based educational games as an alternative medium in the learning process in the classroom and can improve students ' understanding of animal name recognition material in English. The research method used is research and development (RnD) with 4D development procedure with Define (defining), Design (designing), develop (development), and Disseminate (dissemination). The product developed contains 2 main materials including guess the name of animals and guess the animal sounds accompanied by leveling and scoring. The results of this study are as follows: 1) The percentage of results from the media experts is 98.66% included in the criteria very decent; 2) The outcome percentage of the material experts is 85.45% included in very decent criteria; 3) The percentage yield of the student is 85.05% included in very decent criteria. The test results of students in the class get an average pretests score of 48 and a posttest of 84. Then done test N-Gain or average increase against the results of pretests and posttest students get the results of 0.7045 included in the high category. The conclusion that learning media recognition of animal names in English material is effective and worthy of use in the learning process.
