Abstract

Poor quality or quality of road pavement can be caused by several factors. Like, the material used is not good or outside the technical provisions, the method of working is not good, workmanship that coincides with unfavorable weather and many other factors. Poor road quality will further accelerate the process of road damage. This study aims to determine how much the level of road damage due to the quality of the material on the flexible pavement by the PCI and Coredrill methods. Observations using the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method conducted on the Ceper - Klaten Road with the length of the road 500 m, i.e. dividing the road into several segments per 100 m. Then, each road segment is observed (visually) and measured to identify the type of damage that exists and make an assessment in accordance with the PCI method. This study also uses asphalt sampling by coredrill. Then after that the sample is taken to the Muhammadiyah Surakarta Civil Engineering laboratory for Marshall and Extraction testing. Based on observations using the PCI method, obtained types of damage in the form of crocodile cracks, sinks, edge cracks, fillings and holes. This damage is done based on the type of damage that is there, namely charging cracks, local asphalt sprinkles, sand stocking and patching. From the coredrill method and after testing Marshall and Extraction it can be concluded that the Ceper-Klaten road section was damaged in the high category, so that the planned road with a 10-year planned life begins to increase in 2014 and the planned road ends in 2024, has decreased plan life 4 years from the age of the plan and the road will end in the 6th year or 2020.
