Abstract

The aluminum alloy requires several processes to increase the strength of the material before it is used. One way that can be taken to increase the strength of a metal alloy is through the heat treatment process. The results of hardness testing on Al-Cu Aluminum alloy conditions after quenching has decreased from raw materials or materials that have not been through a heating process that has an average hardness of 77.7 HRB to 50.08 HRB. However, after going through the artificial aging process, the violence increased from the after quench condition with an average of 50.08 HRB to 60.68 HRB for violence after aging. From the results of After Aging hardness test, the result of material with 60 minutes holding time has 57.67 HRB hardness, material with 90 minutes holding time has 66.2 HRB hardness, material with 120 minutes holding time has 58.17 HRB hardness. This shows that the process of using a 90 minute holding time is the most optimal.
