Abstract

The emergence of Instagram media has an impact on hijabers where as a place to present themselves by showing fashion style through Instagram. Especially in the hijab syar’i trend (the way to dress a Muslim woman in accordance with Islamic law) which is widely used and is familiar to the IMM (Muhammadiyah Student Association) Surakarta. This study aims to find out how a Immawati presented herself on Instagram as a member of IMM. This research uses descriptive qualitative method with Erving Goffman's dramaturgy approach. The research subjects were 5 members of the IMM from the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Economics and Business, the Faculty of Islamic Religion and the Faculty of Communication and Information who were actively using Instagram. The results of this study indicate their activities on the front stage on 1) Settings, informan prefer to use photo effects and photo place settings to support the image shown on Instagram. 2) Personal front, a. Appearances that are used in syar'i clothing are robe, using khimar, socks, shoes and handsock, and also natural scenery such as temples, beaches, buildings and others. b. Manner, informant shows himself as IMM immawati with religious caption and motivation to remind himself and also followers on his intagram account to remember God who sometimes forgets to be grateful and to give a zest for life to achieve certain goals.
