Abstract

Archery is a sport that was viral some time ago caused by the awareness of Muslims to return to the Qur'an and Sunnah, this sport is recommended in Islam with enthusiasts ranging from children to adults. The purpose of the research conducted is to describe the stages of the process as well as the type of process of internalizing the values of character education, and identifying the values of character education in archery sports. This research is a phenomenological qualitative study using 6 informants who are members of the Jogja Indonesian Horseback Archery Community Solo (KPBI Joglo) consisting of 4 senior archers and 2 junior archers in Central Java who are still active in archery. This study uses data collection methods in the form of interviews and observations and then analyzed with interactive qualitative analysis methods Data validation in this study using member checking and data triangulation methods. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion that the transformation of values occurs when all informants recognize archery through social interaction. Value transactions occur during the learning process with a process that prioritizes safety and etiquette in archery included in the value transformation process. There are two types of processes that occur, namely education by discovery and education by other conducted by the informants. Character values in archery are religious, honest, disciplined, hard work, creative, care for the environment, and love peace. As for etiquette and morality in archery includes etiquette towards oneself, teacher, others, and the surrounding environment.
