Abstract

The purposes of this research are (1) to know the instructional media development of disaster of earth surface topic at seventh grade in Junior high school, (2) to know the effectiveness of disaster learning video of material earth surface form in seventh grade at Junior high school. The research were research and development (R&D) with used 6 procedurs according Sugiyono. This research was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Surakarta with research design used Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design, with used 2 class included control class were 32 students and experiment class were 21 students. The technique of analysis used T test paired sample t-test for control class and T test Independent sample t-test for experiment class because sample of experiment class less of 30. The result of this research was 1) The process of developing instructional media through product improvements made by material experts, media experts, with an average value of 4.31 included in "Good" category and the results of assessment of respondents had an average of 4.4 included in "Good" category. 2) T-test results showed H0 was rejected and H1 was accepted. The effectiveness of teaching media in experimental class was 0.70% and the control class was 0.30%. Improved of student learning outcomes in the experimental class 0.40% higher than control class. In conclusion, the disaster video of earth surface development topic was feasible and effective to improve student learning outcomes.
