Abstract

Pandanaran Street is one of the roads located in the center of Semarang, precisely in the District of South Semarang. Pandanaran Road has the potential that can make a congestion because this road needs or road capacity that is not proportional to the volume of vehicles so that it can be the reason of traffic congestion, especially during busy times in the morning, afternoon and evening. One of the bad effects of traffic congestion that takes place continuously is that it can affect the temperature of the air, because the burning of fossil fuels such as motor vehicle exhaust gas cannot be renewed, then combustion releases carbon dioxide causing solar radiation to be re-emitted back to the earth. The purpose of this study is (1) Knowing the variation of traffic congestion based on the level of road service (V/C) on the Pandanaran Road section (2) Knowing the variations in air temperature in the Pandanaran Road section (3) Knowing how much the influence of traffic congestion on the air temperature in the section Jalan Pandanaran Kecamatan Semarang Selatan Semarang City. There are 2 types of data used, namely primary and secondary data, for primary data including traffic volume and air temperature data, while secondary data uses geometric data, road networks and population. This research method is survey and observation using purposive sampling technique. The results of this study are (1) The variation of the average traffic congestion based on the level of road service in the morning at 0.85 smp/hour means that the congestion is classified as a medium level because the value is less than 1.00 smp/hour and then at noon 1.01smp/hour and the afternoon time of 1.02 smp/hour, meaning the average congestion during the day and evening are classified as high level because the value is more than 1.00 smp/hour (2) Variations in average air temperature in the morning reached 28.5oC, during the day it reached 34 oC and in the afternoon it reached 30.8oC (3) The relationship of traffic congestion and air temperature on Pandanaran Street turned out to be inconsistent, due to rising traffic congestion traffic is not followed by air temperature this can mean that the relationship between the two is almost non-existent because at high congestion the air temperature does not increase.
