Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the character of discipline and responsibility, as well what factors cause the loss of discipline character and responsibility for members of the Youth Organization in Rejoso village, Jogonalan district, Klaten city. This type of research is in the form of descriptive qualitative. Data collection used in this study were observation, interviews and documentation. The object of this research is the implementation of the character of discipline and responsibility in the regular meetings of the Karang Taruna organization, Rejoso village, Jogonalan district, Klaten city. The indicators used in the character of discipline, 1) familiarize on time, 2) obey applicable regulations, 3) have an awareness of the duties and responsibilities, 4) complete the obligations or tasks according to the specified schedule. The indicators used in the character of responsibility, 1) implement the rules that have been set together, 2) do the task according to the rules or instructions, 3) are responsible for each action. Data validity is done by triangulation of data sources and triangulation of techniques. Data analysis was performed by applying an interactive analysis model. The results of this study 1) All members are able to apply the character of discipline in a timely manner; 2) Members of Karang Taruna are able to comply with applicable regulations in respect of complying with paying mandatory contributions; 3) All members are able to understand their respective duties and responsibilities, for example the chairman always monitors the proceedings of the meeting; 4) Tasks owned by each member can be completed before maturity; 5) Related to implementing the rules that have been set together, all members have been able to do all the rules quite well; 6) Members are able to carry out tasks according to rules or instructions; 7) All members are able to take responsibility for all actions; 8) Factors causing weak character of discipline in terms of getting used on time that is too long to wait and cool chatting with other friends while traveling to the location of the meeting, 9) Factors causing weak character of responsibility in terms of implementing rules that have been set together namely the high rasah indifferent or attitude does not care about the rules that have been made together.
