Abstract

This study has three objectives. (1) Translations contained in sports news in the January-April 2019 Kompas newspaper. (2) Greetings used in sports news in the January-April 2019 Kompas newspaper. (3) Implementation of greetings in the learning of negotiating texts. This type of research is qualitative research. Data collection is done by listening and note taking techniques. The method used is the method of covering the basic techniques and advanced techniques. Advanced techniques which include marking reading techniques, equivalent techniques II. Based on the results of the study show (1) Diction contained in sports news in the Kompas newspaper January-April 2019 edition is divided into eight parts, namely the use of the word diction meaning synonymous, the use of the word meaningful denotation, the use of connotational meaningful words, the use of common words, the use of the term foreign, special word usage, scientific word usage, and popular word usage. (2) Greetings used in sports news in the January-April 2019 edition of Kompas newspaper, researchers divided them into five types, namely greetings based on the most dominant nickname found amounting to 26 data, based on self-name abbreviations totaling 7, based on animal names amounting to 5 data, based on the article Si Si amounted to 3 data, based on the name of the city amounted to 2, and based on close relationships only 1 data. Implemented in Indonesian language learning for class X KD 4.11.
