Abstract

Deaf children are children who have below average intelligence, in addition they have retardation in adjusting to the surrounding environment. Lack of children with hearing loss special needs in understanding academic material, especially mathematics in arithmetic, so it needs effort that can be done. This study aims to design and build educational games that can improve numeracy skills for Children with Special Needs (ABK) for grade 6 Deaf in special schools SLB-BC Mitra Amanda Boyolai. In this study the problem to be discussed is how to design and build educational game applications that can improve numeracy skills in children with special needs of hearing impaired. In designing this educational game using the Game Development Life Cycle (GDLC) method. Testing this game uses the black box method and a questionnaire in which all scenarios tested get valid results. Then the test questionnaire was distributed to 5 teachers and 25 students of Mitra Amanda SLB. Based on the results of the questionnaire that was done, it was obtained an average percentage of 89.2% agreeing that the educational game learns number operations Helps in the learning process.
