Abstract

This study aims to 1) Assess the adequacy of rice conditions in the Cawas District, 2) Assess the factors that affect the adequacy of rice in the Cawas District. This research method is survey. The data of this research area include the classification of the level of rice sufficiency by comparing the years 2011 and 2015. These types of data use the population, the amount of rice production, the amount of dry milled grain data (MPD). The results obtained from this study are that the conditions of need and availability are influenced by rice production with the level of fulfillment of rural communities, also supported by the condition of farming capital, the addition of rice seeds, agricultural equipment, natural / chemical fertilizers accompanied by agricultural extension in each village. Cawas Subdistrict in rice production has a sufficient condition of rice deficit with the acquisition of -706912.4 tons from 2011 while in 2015 increased conditions of rice sufficiency was -532760.95 tons. Factors in the condition of the production deficit are affected by the population, increasing population, high population makes the need for rice in each village increases, but the level of rice sufficiency decreases such as Cawas Village, Gombang Village and Pakisan Village.
