Abstract

Food is a basic requirement for humans for their survival. The amount of junk food and fast food that is not known to be a nutritional content is a bad diet factor for someone. In addition, the lack of public knowledge about caloric needs is a reason for a person having difficulty in determining a healthy and balanced diet. Calories in the body are said to be balanced if the calories that enter through food eaten are as large as the calories released by the body. Excess calories can increase the risk of hypertension, obesity, heart disease, stroke, diabetes and so on. The caloric needs needed by the body to carry out activities can be calculated by the basal metabolic rate which uses the harris benedict formula to find out. In order to make it easier for people to calculate their caloric requirements, an application for calculating caloric requirements and calculating calories from food consumed is made. The application is made using the HTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL programming languages as database programming languages and tested using the black box method. This application can be used to determine calorie needs and as a guide in determining a healthy and balanced diet.
