Abstract
ABSTRACT Indonesia is known as a maritime country with the area of its waters is two thirds of the total territory of Indonesia. With these conditions, Indonesia has enormous opportunities and potential for aquaculture cultivation to be developed. The purpose of this study is to analyze the competitiveness and factors that influence the demand for Indonesian fishery exports. This study uses secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), World Bank, indonesia.distanceworld.com for the period 2002 to 2015. The analytical method used to determine the competitiveness of fisheries exports uses the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) approach, and panel data regression to determine factors of fishery export demand. The results showed that the export commodities of Japanese fisheries, Thailand and Singapore did not have export competitiveness in the Indonesian market. However, Japan was superior to its competitors, namely Thailand and Singapore during 2002-2015. The panel data regression results show that GDP per capita, exchange rate, population and economic distance have a significant influence on the value of exports. Keywords: Competitiveness, RCA, Export Value, GDP Per Capita, Exchange Rates, Population, Economic Distance.
