Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between family social support and self-efficacy with the motivation to learn in junior high school students. The proposed hypothesis is that there is a positive relationship between family social support and self-efficacy with the motivation to learn in junior high school students. The method used in this research is quantitative correlational. Data collection uses a learning motivation scale that has a validity that moves from 0.6 to 0.9 and has a reliability of 0.824 and uses a family social support scale that has a validity that moves from 0.6 to 0.9 and has a reliability of 0.873 as well as the self-efficacy scale that has a validity that moves from 0.6 to 0.9 and has a reliability of 0.852. The research subject is a grade VIII student of SMP A as much as 56 students. Samples were taken using the random sampling cluster technique. Data analysis is conducted using multiple regression analyses and the results gained are F calculate of 33,863 with p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), meaning there is a positive and significant relationship between family social support and self-efficacy with motivation study in junior high school students. The amount of effective contribution of family social support and self-efficacy to the motivation of learning is 56.1% so there are 43.9% other factors that affect the learning motivation of students.
