Abstract

Telescope boom is an attachment to facilitate rough terrain cranes in doing work that functions as a weight lifter to move it from one place to another. The telescope boom on the rough terrain crane unit has 4 sections in which the first section is called the baseboom. While the Elevating cylinder is an attachment to help move the telescope boom up and down. Both of these attachments are driven by a hydraulic system. This calculation aims to determine the reaction force that occurs in the telescope boom with a number of variations. The first variation is the change in arm length with a fixed work angle (80º), then the second variation is the change in work angle with a fixed arm length (26.4m). And know the pump power needed by the elevating cylinder to lift the telescope boom due to the reaction force of the loading. From the results of the calculation of the reaction force with variations in arm length is the longer the arm on the telescope boom, the reaction force that occurs on the telescope boom will be even greater, while the variation of the working angle is the greater angle on the telescope, the reaction force on the x axis (Ax & Bx) the smaller the reaction force on the y-axis (Ay & By) does not experience much change in value. And for pump power with variations in arm length is the longer the boom arm, the greater the power needed to pump the elevating cylinder, while the variation in work angle does not affect much of the power needed to pump the elevating cylinder.
