Abstract

The results of the study conducted by Prasetyo (2016) revealed that the original land in Sukodono Subdistrict, Sragen Regency included in the type of clay land which has a liquid limit value (LL) 85.73%, plastic limit (PL) 24.69%, Plasticity Index (PI) 61.04% , the percentage of filter passing No.200 91% and index group (GI) of 68. If classified according to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASTHO) this land is included in A-7-6 group with the type of clay material with general assessment, a subgrade is moderate to poor, while according to the classification of the Unifield Soil Classification System (USCS) the soil is included in the CH group which includes non-organic clay soils with high plasticity and fat clay. Based on these results, the land in Sukodono District, Sragen Regency needs an improvement. The improvements were made to determine the physical and mechanical properties of soil mixed with 5% lime and coconut coir ash with variations of 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10% of the sample weight. The results of physical properties testing that decreased occurred in testing the water content, specific gravity (Gs), liquid limit (LL), Plasticity Index (PI), pass filter No. 200, while testing the physical properties that have increased occurred in testing the shrinkage (SL) and plastic limit (PL). In testing the mechanical properties there is standard Proctor testing and consolidation testing. In Proctor standard testing, the optimum moisture content tends to decrease, while the dry volume weight value increases. The consolidation test has an increase in the value of the coefficient of consolidation (Cv), while the value of the compression index (Cc) and consolidation decline (Sc) has decreased. The lowest Cv value found in the original soil, while the highest value in the soil with a mixture of 5% lime and 10% coconut coir ash. The lowest Cc and SC value is found in soil with a mixture of 5% lime and 10% coconut coir ash, while the highest value of is found in the original soil.
