Abstract

Soil stabilization is a method of mixing soil with certain materials to improve soil quality to meet certain technical requirements. It is like the condition of the soil in Bendo village, Sukodono sub-district, Sragen regency which has a value of w = 10.75%, Gs = 2.749%, LL = 66.85%, PL = 30.84%, SL = 22.34%, PI = 36% , percentage passed filter no. 200 = 88% and GI 36%. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the quality of the soil so that it can support the existing construction on it. This test aims to determine the physical and mechanical properties of original soil and the effect of adding lime and coconut husk ash to the physical and mechanical properties of the soil. The method used is stabilization with a mixture of 5% lime and coconut husk ash respectively 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10%. Value of water content, specific gravity, liquid limit, plasticity index, and percent pass filter no. 200 has decreased, on the contrary the value of the plastic limit, and the shrinkage limit has increased. According to the American Association of State Highway and Transporting Official (AASHTO) samples of native and mixed soils belong to the A-7-5 group, namely clay with moderate to poor general assessment. According to the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS) of native soils including CH namely high organic non-organic soils and 5% mixed lime and coconut coir ash 0%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10% including MH classification with non-organic silt soils high plasticity. Mechanical test results decrease in the optimum moisture content while the dry volume weight tends to increase. Free compressive strength testing has increased along with the increasing percentage of lime and coconut coir ash as well as the length of treatment. The undrained cohesion value (cu) is directly proportional to the value of free compressive strength (qu). From these results, the added ingredients of lime and coconut coir ash can improve the soil in Bendo Village, Sukodono, Sragen..
