Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability to listen to stories and activeness of third grade students at SD Negeri 03 Makamhaji Sukoharjo by using storytelling methods in learning Indonesian. The subject of the action research was the third grade students of SD Negeri 03 Makamhaji Sukoharjo totaling 30 students, the perpetrators of the action were researchers and teachers. Data collection methods using the method of observation, tests. Data analysis techniques used by using quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques which include data reduction, data display, verification. The results showed an increase in the ability to listen to stories and student activity. Increased ability to listen to stories can be seen from the results of tests conducted from pre-cycle to cycle II, namely the results of pre-cycle ability to listen to the stories of 20% of students who are complete, cycle I 69% of students who are complete, cycle II of 82% of students who are complete. Increased student activity can be seen through student observation sheets which are observed at each meeting in accordance with predetermined indicators namely students pay attention to the teacher's explanation, ask questions, be enthusiastic and write activite. Every meeting indicates that students have increased every indicator of student activity. The conclusion of this research is that the use of storytelling method can improve the ability to listen to stories and the activeness of students of class III Indonesian language material at SD Negeri 03 Makamhaji Sukoharjo in 2019/2020
