Abstract

Abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between parenting of democratic parents, religiosity, with respect among students. The hypotheses proposed are: 1) there is a positive relationship between parenting of democratic parents and religiosity with respect among students, 2) there is a positive relationship between parenting of democratic parents with respect among students, and 3) there is a relationship between religiosity with respect. The population of this study were students of class VIII in SMP Muhammadiyah 5 Surakarta, totaling 129 people with a sample of 96 people. The sampling technique used was cluster sampling technique. The method used is quantitative with a measuring instrument in the form of Respect Scale, Democratic Parenting Scale, and Religiosity Scale. Data analysis was performed by multiple regression analysis using SPSS 23.0 for Windows. Based on the data analysis between variables parenting of democratic parents, religiosity, and respect, the result obtained F (count) of 30.135 and a significance level of 0.000 (p <0.01) which shows there is a very significant relationship between parenting patterns of democratic parenting, religiosity, and respect among students. Between the variables of parenting of democratic parents with respect obtained correlation coefficient (rxy) of 0.600 and (p) of 0,000 (p <0.01). This means that there is a very significant positive relationship between parenting of democratic parents with respect for students. Between the variables of religiosity with respect, a correlation coefficient (rxy) of 0.548 and (p) of 0.000 (p <0.01) was obtained. This means that there is a very significant positive relationship between religiosity and respect among students. Parenting patterns of democratic variable influence the attitude of respect variable for 42 % and the of religiosity variable affect the attitude of respect variable for 25 %, then the remaining 33 % is influenced by other variables. The variable of respect is classified as very high. Whereas the parenting of democratic parents variable is strong and the religiosity variable is high.
