Abstract

This study aims to find out about: 1) the application of promotion and service strategies in optimizing visits to the Kleco 1 Surakarta Elementary School library. 2) interest in reading and student visits to the library after the promotion strategy. The type of research in this study is qualitative with a descriptive research design. Data collection techniques are carried out using observations, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The validity of the data uses technical triangulation and source triangulation. Data were analyzed through domain analysis, taxonomic analysis, and comparative analysis. The results of this study indicate an increase in student visits through promotion and service strategies in the Kleco 1 Surakarta Elementary School library. There is an increase in student visits can be seen: 1) enthusiastic reading interest of students prior to the promotion strategy and library services by 6.11% at the end of promotional activities reached 56.11%. This study concludes that the promotion and service strategy in the Kleco 1 Surakarta Elementary School library can increase student reading interest. 2) the obstacle faced in increasing students' interest in reading at the Kleco 1 Surakarta Elementary School Library is the lack of time to use the library because of the relatively short rest time
