Abstract

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PHYSICAL FITNESS AND NUTRITIONAL STATUS AND MOMENTORY MEMORY. Introduction : Memory is a brain function that consist of the process of receiving, entering, storing and releasing information that has been obtained by someone. The memory is divided into three types: sensory memory, short term memory, and long term memory. One factor that effects memory is nutritional status. Nutritional status is a state of the body caused by a balance between nutrients intake with needs. National prevalence of over nutritional status in children continues to increase. The riskesdas results showed the prevalence of over nutrition in school children aged 6 to 12 years has increased from 9.2 percent to 18.8 percent. The purpose : This research amis to determine the relationship between nutritional status and physical fitness with momentary memory of students of SDN Totosari I, SDN Tunggulsari I and Tunggolsari II. The Research methodology : This research uses cross sectional design, as many as 67 students were selected based on inclusion criteria from all populations. Nutritional status data were obtained from anthropometric measurements of body weight and height, physical fitness data is measured by physical fitness tess used cooper test method, while the momentary memory was measured by a memory test using the recall method with the help of words. The tools used was white paper which has an arrangement of words (six words) in sequence but not related. Data were analyzed using the Kolmogorov-smirnov test to see normality of data, followed with Pearson Product Moment correlation test to see the relationship between nutritional status and momentory memory and the relationship between physical fitness and momentary memory. The results : The result of this study indicate that the group classified as instantaneous good memory as many as 40 respondents (59%) and the group that was classified as short lived-lived memory was 27 respondents (40,3%). The results treated with SPSS V.20 showed there was no relationship between nutritional status and momentary memory (p=0,126). There was no relationship between physical fitness with momentory memory (p=0,871). The conclusions and recommendations: There was no relationship between physical fitness with momentary memory (p=0,871). This research could be concluded that the majority of female students of SDN Totosari I, and Tunggulsari I, II had good momentary memory (59,7%), normal nutritional status (67,2%) and poor physical fitness (79,1%).
