Abstract

This paper has a background Issues regarding the issue of quality of educators, various efforts have been made including the provision of teacher certification, but it seems this has not been able to fully improve the quality qualifications of educators. Improving the quality of educators requires the right strategy. The formulation of the problem of this research are: 1) How is the condition of the quality of educators in Muhammadiyah Al-Kautsar Junior High School PK Gumpang Kartasura in the academic year 2018 / 2019. 2) What is the principal's strategy in improving the quality of educators in Muhammadiyah Al-Kautsar Junior High School PK Gumpang Kartasura in the academic year 2018 / 2019. This research is a field research and this type of research is qualitative research. Then the data collection in this study through interviews, observation, and documentation. This research uses a phenomenological approach. The results of this study can be concluded that the quality of educators in Muhammadiyah Al-Kautsar Middle School PK Gumpang Kartasura, educators (teachers) have fulfilled S1 academic qualifications. And there are still 3 subjects that are not appropriate, namely art, culture, information and communication technology and citizenship education. And from 19 educators only 6 people have educator certification. Regarding the competence of educators as in the vision of the school, Educators are very mastered because the four competencies reflect the school system namely the care compliant gaiden system. The principal's strategy at Muhammadiyah Al-Kautsar Junior High School PK Gumpang Kartasura is improving the quality of educators with the following program activities: 1) supervision through the lesson study team, 2) tahfidz tahsin program for educators to improve the quality of reading the Qur'an and add to memorization educators, 3) darrul arqom and following the study of the majesty, 4) MGMP, 5) training, 6) seminars, 7) In-house training, 8) coaching principals in the form of weekly meetings for performance evaluation, 9) workshops, 10) assessing teacher performance, 11) fulfilling learning facilities, 12) coordinating extracurricular activities.
