Abstract

Anemia is still a matter of health of Indonesian people with the prevalence of incidence rate of anemia nationally is 21.7%. Young women are one of the groups prone to anemia. Iron deficiency remains the main cause of anemia and is the single most widespread nutrient deficiency in the world. It is estimated that 75% of anemia is associated with iron deficiency, followed by the lack of energy and protein. Anemia can also be influenced due to excess nutrients that play a role to inhibit the absorption of iron such as fat. The study aims to determine the difference in energy intake, protein, and fat among young women anemia and non anemia. The study uses cross sectional design, the subject of each consisting of 39 subjects of anemia and non anemia. Data on hemoglobin levels is obtained by cyanmethemoglobin and the data intake of protein energy using a semi-quantitative FFQ. Results of the study of the anemia group as much as 39 respondents (48.3%) and non-anemia 41 respondents (51.3%). Results treated with SPSS V. 21 showed a difference in energy intake among young women anemia and non-anemia (P = 0,003). There is a difference in protein intake among young women anemia and non anemia (P = 0,015). There is a difference in fat intake among young women anemia and non anemia (P = 0,041). There is a difference in energy intake, protein and fat among young women anemia and non-anemia in the research area. It is hoped that students in the category of anemia increase food intake high in energy, protein and reduce the category of non-anemia while maintaining its good eating habits.
