Abstract

This study aims to describe the social values contained in the novel novel by Andrea Hirata and its implementation as literary teaching material in 1 Kalten Muhammadiyah High School. The type of this research is descriptive qualitative. The data in this study are in the form of words or sentences that contain or have meaning about social values. While the data source for this research is Father's novel by Andrea Hirata. For data collection techniques in this study is to use library techniques, see, and note. The data analysis technique in this study was using dialectical techniques. The validity of the data for this study is to use data triangulation. The results showed that 45 data were found which contained social values. Based on data found from the novel, therefore it can be associated with Indonesian Language Subject RPP at Muhammadiyah 1 High School in Klaten that it is quite relevant to be used as teaching materials for high school level? / High School equivalent. This is in accordance with the competency standard 5 and basic competency 5.1 about responding to the reading of novel fragments from vocal aspects, intonation and appreciation.
