Abstract

The purpose of this study is to understand what values are obtained from the roles that are played and how the process of internalizing the values that have been obtained from the roles that are performed cognitive, emotionally, and in action. The research method used was qualitative phenomenology whose data collected through an open questionnaire. There are 51 research informants with the criteria of active students of a theater organization at least one year, and at least have two performed antagonist and protagonist characters. The results showed that the informants obtained values from the characters that have been acted out namely caring abaout the environment, communicative, disciplined, respecting achievement, and confidence. The process of cognitive internalizating of values occurs through understanding the text that will be staged and interpreting the character of the characters in the script. The process of internalizing values involves emotional aspects because the player must suppress the ego so that his personal character does not appear in the character to be portrayed. The process of internalization of action in wich the player is required to act in accordance with the character in the script related to gestures, expression/blocking, stage blocking which is the result of learning from cognitive aspects and emotional aspects so that it is engraved into a habit that can be called a character.
