Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the learning model of Society Technology Science (STS) on learning outcomes and science process skills (SPS) class V, especially on science subjects at SDN Banjarnegoro 1 Magelang. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with Control Pretest and Posttest Design. The population in the study amounted to 50 students and 25 students as a sample. The sampling technique in this study uses an purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques with interviews, observation, documentation, and tests.Data analysis in this study used the MANOVA test, which was tested for normality and homogeneity first. The normality test uses the Kolmogrov Smirnov formula, while the homogeneity test uses the Fisher formula.The average cognitive learning outcomes of the experimental class 72.12 is better than the control class with an average acquisition of 59.56. Not only that, for the average KPS experimental class is also better than the control class that is 78.00 compared to 70.88. For the calculation results of the MANOVA test analysis using the Wilk's Lambda formula, the value is 0.004. These results indicate that 0.004 <0.05 which is a significant level, so that means Ho is rejected. Thus, the data analysis of this study found that there were differences in learning outcomes and KPS experimental class students who applied STS learning models with regular scientific learning. So it can be concluded that the effective STS learning model is used in improving student learning outcomes and SPS.
