Abstract

Madiun Regency is a national food granary in East Java province which every year land conversion occurs of agricultural land into housing that can be found in Munggut Subdistrict. The need for residential housing near urban areas makes the Munggut Subdistrict a lot of land conversion agricultural land into housing. The goals of this research were to mapping the land conversion of agricultural land in the Munggut Subdistrict and to analized what kind of factor who can made the development of housing land by utilizing the geographical information system in 2003 and 2017. Spatial analysis method is used in determining land conversion by overlaying land use data in 2003 and 2017 Munggut Subdistrict. The conversion of agricultural land into housing is validated with data on the Inventory of Mastery, Ownership, Use and Land Use determined by the Madiun Regency National Land Agency. Personal interviews were conducted with the secretary of Munggut Subdistrict and housing developers to knowing the land conversion areas and what factors to the development of residential land in 2003 and 2017 at Munggut Subdistrict. The results of this research is the land conversion in the Munggut Subdistrict in 2003 and the year 2017 shown in the land use map. Munggut Subdistrict decreased the area of agricultural land by 9.7 hectares built into houisng. Housing land in 2003 was 0.3 hectares in size while in 2017 it was 10 hectares with a total of 8 housing estates built. The factors that make housing development happened is a strategic location supported by road access that directly connects with the city center and the availability of existing land and there are no regulations determining of agricultural land makes housing development continues.
