Abstract

Gluten free casein free diet therapy is one of the therapies that can be used to help improve the development of autistic children. Parental compliance is primarily a major determining factor in the success of diet therapy for maximum results. The purpose of this research is to describe the dynamics of adherence to applying gluten free casein free diet therapy to mothers with autistic children. The research informant is 4 persons consisting of 2 adherent to apply dieting and 2 people do not obey to apply a diet obtained through screening techniques using FFQ questionnaire conducted at the center of service in Autism Centre of Surkarta. Data collection using semi-structured interviews. The results showed the dynamics of compliance of mothers in applying the GFCF diet begins with the efforts of mothers who have an autistic child in applying the GFCF diet, food selection, diet supervision, and dietary consistency. In running the business, there are obstacles experienced by mothers with autistic children, including internal and external barriers. In addition, in the application of GFCF diets needed social support. Support received by the mother who has an autistic child in the form of instrumental support. Spirituality is found in this study as an internal support mother in applying the GFCF diet therapy to autistic children
