Abstract

The increasing number of the population every year led to the pressure on land caused by the need for residents ' dwellers. Pressure on land function impacts the decline of land function other than built land. The escalation of unabated land development can adversely affect the functioning of other land areas, such as food crops farmland. The purpose of this research is; (1) knowing the distribution of actual built land cover in Klaten Regency, and (2) analyzing the suitability of the actual built land against RTRW Klaten Regency. The research method applied in this study is to use a sampling survey method purposive sampling and analyzed using the qualitative method of geographic information system. The results showed that; (1) The distribution of built land spread in Klaten regency spreading evenly in every district with the total area of built land in Klaten Regency is approximately 9682.77 ha. District with the highest area of built land is Trucuk Subdistrict with a built land area is 655.61 ha, while the lowest area of built land is located in Kebonarum Subdistrict with a built land area is 123.16 ha, and (2) the actual built land in Klaten Regency that has been in accordance with the pattern of space in the RTRW is 9344.19 ha or has a value of 96.50% of the total area of the built land, while the built land that does not correspond to the spatial pattern in the RTRW is 338.58 ha or has a value of 3.50% of the total area of built land.
