Abstract

Isna Ardyani Putri, A210150009,STUDENT INTEREST TO CONTINUE STUDY OF HIGHER EDUCATION BASED ON THE INCOME OF PARENT AND MOTIVATION FOR LEARNING IN CLASS XI IPS SMA BATIK 2 SURAKARTA ACADEMIC YEAR 2018/2019. Thesis.The Faculty of Education, University of Muhammadiyah Surakarta, August, 2019. The purpose of this study was to determine: 1) the effect of the income of parents against the interest of the students to continue their studies to university, 2) effect of learning motivation against the interest of the students to continue their studies into higher education, 3) the influence between the income of parents and learning motivation toward interest students continue their studies to university. This research includes associative quantitative research. The population in this study were all students of class XI IPS SMA Batik 2 Surakarta 2018/2019 academic year as many as 129 students. Samples were taken as many as 97 students using the random sampling technique. The data needed is obtained through questionnaires and documentation. The previous questionnaire was tested and tested for validity and tested for reliability. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis, t test, F test, R2 test and relative and effective contribution. Based on the analysis of data obtained by multiple linear regression equation as follows: Y = 68,261 + 1,226 X1 + 0,398 X2. The equation shows that interest to continue their studies to university influenced by the level of parental income and motivation to learn. Based on the analysis and discussion can be concluded that: (1) The income of parents has positive influence on the student's interest to continue their studies to university. This is proven by regression analysis to obtain tcount> ttable namely 2,259 > 1.986 with 0.026 significance value > 0.05. (2) motivation to learn a positive influence on the student's interest to continue their studies to university. This is proven by regression analysis to obtain tcount> ttable namely 3,291 > 1.986 with 0.000 significance value <0.05. (3) the income of parental and motivation to learn together positive effect on student interest to continue their studies to university. This is proven by regression analysis to obtain the value fcount> Ftable is 12,504 > 3,09 with significant value 0.000 < 0.05. (4) Variable income of parents contribute effectively amounted to 6,01%. Learning motivation variables contribute effectively amounted to 14,98%, with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0,210, or 21,0%, while 79,0% are influenced by other variables not examined.
