Abstract

Mathematics is one of the subjects that requires high understanding for students who study it. At the elementary school level, especially in class V, mathematics is one of the subjects that must be studied in earnest and with perseverance in trying. Because mathematics is vulnerable to learning difficulties that will be experienced by students. The purpose of this study was to (1) describe what learning difficulties experienced by students in class V. (2) describe the factors that influence the learning difficulties of students in class V, (3) describe the efforts made by the teacher to overcome the learning difficulties of class students V. This type of research is qualitative research. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques carried out are, observation, interviews and documentation. Data is analyzed through the steps of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study are: (1) difficulties experienced by students in learning mathematics including: difficulty in understanding language, difficulty in understanding concepts, difficulty in understanding symbols, difficulty in calculation, (2) factors that influence student learning difficulties include: internal factors (low student intelligence, student interest in low learning, low motivation towards learning), external factors (parents' attention to student learning is low, the atmosphere of the house is less conducive, the influence of mass media, learning methods vary, the lack of use of learning media, lack of learning support infrastructure. is to give guidance n according to the type of difficulty experienced by students.
