Abstract

The process of recording lecture attendance in general is still done manually. This is a weakness that students can use to provide a false presence. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a system for recording attendance. This led to the idea of developing an Android cellular based lecture attendance recording system. This system implements mobile vision technology using QR codes as a visual communication medium. So that attendance recording can be done by students by scanning the QR code from the teaching lecturer through the student's mobile device. For media storage and data access, this system uses the Firestore realtime database. The database is a leading realtime database developed by Google. The advantages of Firestore databases are having more complete query features and a better scale than other realtime databases. The development of this system uses a prototyping method that allows prospective users and developers to interact with each other during system development. This study resulted in an application system for recording attendance lectures addressed to UMS. Based on the results of blackbox testing shows that, the system in general can work well and in accordance with the objectives of system development. While the results of testing the system at the level of acceptance of prospective users shows the average presentation of the questionnaire results as much as 54.5% of respondents answered strongly agree with the system made, 29.7% agreed, 10.6% neutral and 5% did not agree so in general it can be concluded that the system developed was useful and can be submitted to be implemented in UMS.
