Abstract

Abstract PAI teacher is someone who has responsibility with the formation of personal in students according to Islamic teachings, but he also has responsibility to Allah SWT. The task of PAI teachers is not only to teach religious material to students but also to be able to form good characters. One character that must be formed in students is honesty. Formation of these characters can be done through habituation and activities in the school. Therefore to form the character of honesty, the teacher must have a strategy that can be put into practice and activities in the school. The research on the strategies of PAI teachers in forming honesty character in Muhammadiyah 1 Middle School in Surakarta aims to explain how the process of forming honesty character through habituation and an activity that can form honest values. Describe what activities are carried out by Surakarta Muhammadiyah 1 Middle School in forming the character of honesty so that in the students the honesty character is formed. The focus of this study is a) PAI teacher strategies in forming students 'honesty character, b) PAI teacher constraints in forming students' honesty character. This study included a type of qualitative research that used field studies at Muhammadiyah 1 Middle School in Surakarta. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation from various parties elements of the school. The analysis carried out by the deductive method that departs from general events is then reduced to special parts. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the PAI teacher's strategy in forming the character of honesty is done through: a) habituation, b) mauidzah (advice), c) exemplary. The formation of honesty character is formed through activities: a) habituation during the duhuha prayer, b) accustomed to being honest during daily tests and examinations, c) being honest in transacting in the honesty canteen. There are 3 obstacles faced by PAI teachers in forming students' honesty character including: a) family environment, b) school environment, c) community environment. The efforts of the teacher in dealing with these obstacles are: a) the need for teamwork so that teachers can know and understand the character of honesty of students, b) always motivate them to always be honest, c) cooperate with parents to supervise students when at home.
