Abstract

The purpose of this study is to reconstruct reality and identify elements of 5W + 1H in the 2019 presidential election news detik.com and kompas.com as well as the implementation of writing news exposition text in class X OTKP students of SMK Muhammadiyah Delanggu. This research is expected to improve students 'writing skills, in addition, researchers hope to improve students' reading skills because in identifying the 5W + 1H elements in the text of this news exposition it requires accuracy in order to find and address all the 5W + 1H elements. This type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study were all students of class X OTKP SMK Muhammadiyah Delanggu, Klaten. Elements collection techniques used in this study were observation techniques, test techniques, documentation, and document analysis. The results of this study concluded that from these data there are three classifications of the completeness of the elements of 5W + 1H, namely answered, not answered and answered incorrectly. The elements answered are = 14, why = 4, when = 15, where = 14, who = 7, and how = 8. The element is not answered namely what = 3, why = 13, when = 2, where = 3, who = 10, and how = 9. Answered incorrectly what = 2, why = 1, and how = 1. This study concluded that among the elements of 5W + 1H the most that students have not been able to answer is the element of how and why. Because the two elements require accuracy and decomposition of answers that require explanation. In addition to the classification of missed and missed researchers also found the 5W + 1H element was missed but incorrect. The elements amounted to four data that were answered but were still wrong, among others, what were 2, why were 1, and how many were 1.
