Abstract

The aim of the present research was to describe 1) the understanding of principal and teachers related the theory of multiple intelligences 2) implementation learning based on multiple intelligences-based learning 3) barriers of implementation multiple intelligences-based learning, 4) solving of barriers implementation multiple intelligences-based learning in MI Muhammadiyah PK Kartasura. This research is qualitative with case study design. The subjects in this research were head master, fourth grade teachers, and fourth grade students. Data collection techniques was used interviews, observation, and documentation. Data validity was used techniques and source triangulation and data analysis with data reduction, data display and verification. The results of the study are: 1) the head master and the teachers had an understanding of the theory of multiple intelligences. 2) implementation of multiple intelligence based learning carried out in three stages, are planning, implementation, and assessment . 3) the barrier on planning stage is the design of lesson plan,the barrier implementation stage are teacher teaching strategies are still less varied and student factors, barrier on assessment stage are found in cognitive, affective, and psychomotor assessment. 4) Solutions to overcome the barriers are by teacher learning activities every week on 2 and 4, involving teachers in seminars and training, providing teaching methodology books to teachers, collaboration with students, parents and psychology students who conduct research.
