Abstract

Technological advances over time are rapidly expanding and heavily dependent on electrical energy. The process of transmitting electrical energy to consumers using transmission lines. The process of transmitting electrical energy through the transmission line is not separated from interference. The handling attempts used in the transmission line to minimize any interference that occurs with the installation of distance relay. The working principle of the distance relay is measuring the impedance of the transmission line divided into zone 1, Zone 2 and Zone 3. The distance relay measure the voltage and current of interference seen from the relay, by dividing the magnitude of the voltage and the current, the impedance to the point of occurrence of interference can be determined. This research aims to determine the value of the distance relay setting on the transmission line of the mains substation Sragen – Masaran. The method used for this research is by looking for transformer data, the distance of each the mains substation and sender cable, after the data is fulfilled done analysis of the existing data and doing the calculation of relay setting values. Calculation of range impedance in one zone (0,63812 + j 1.84288) Ω with a protection range of 8.72 km requires an active time of 0 seconds, zone two (1.205 + J3,48032) Ω with a protection range of 27.59 km requires an active time of 0.4 seconds, zone three (2,02026 + J5,8345) Ω with a protection range of 17.9736 km requires an active time of 1.2 seconds.
