Abstract

The object of the research is the film entitled A Beautiful Mind Directed by Ron Howard. The objective of the study is to analyze anxiety of John Nash in Ron Howard’s A Beautiful Mind Movie based on Psychoanalytic approach and the structural elements. The research is conducted by using qualitative method. The writer uses two data sources namely primary and secondary data source. The primary data is the play film A Beautiful Mind Directed by Ron Howard. The secondary data sources are books about personality and the other materials, related to the analysis. The method of the data collection is library research. The technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis. The result of the research is as follows: first, A Beautiful Mind is Ron Howard’s literary work that tells us about anxiety of the main character John Nash. Second, a Psychoanalytic shows that anxiety of John Nash can be arranged by ego. The last, reality and neurotic anxiety are the most dominant types of anxiety faced by John Nash. He has three reality and neurotic anxieties but morality anxieties there are only two.
