Abstract

Substation is part of an electric power transmission system that serves to reduce voltage. In operating the substation requires a DC power supply as a control of substation performance support equipment. The direct current (DC) source at the substation is obtained from the rectifier and the battery installed in the installation is arranged in parallel with the load or commonly called the DC system. The battery is a backup DC power supply that is used to provide DC supply to protection equipment, PMT and PMS motors, and telecommunications equipment. To maintain battery reliability in providing DC supply when a fault occurs, routine maintenance is needed so that the battery can work with maximum performance. Battery maintenance is carried out by measuring voltage, specific gravity, electrolyte temperature, and testing battery capacity. This research was conducted to find out how reliable and feasible the 110v battery was at the Klaten substation after maintenance. The results showed that the voltage of each battery cell in a boost charge condition is still at a nominal value. For electrolyte conditions the battery is still in good condition with a temperature of 29ºc and specific gravity of 1.20gr / cm³. Testing the voltage capacity of each cell of the battery consists of two cells whose voltage drops and is measured at 0.24V in cell 20 and cell 47, so it is necessary to repair the damaged cell. After discharge for 5 hours, the total battery voltage is measured at 92.7 V and still meets the minimum standard discharge value of 80% full voltage. Overall from the results of testing the battery capacity it can be said that the condition of the 110V battery at the Klaten 150 kV substation is still good and can be relied upon when a fault occurs.
