Abstract

The meaning of life is things that are considered very important and true that can provide special value and are worthy of being used as the purpose of life, and if it can be fulfilled the meaning of life it can cause a sense of happiness in his life. This study aims to understand the meaningfulness of life in beneficiaries at the Female Social Service Institution Wanodyatama Surakarta. The subjects of this study were selected using a purposive sampling technique totaling 4 people with the criteria of beneficiaries who were undergoing rehabilitation or coaching at the Female Social Service Institution Wanodyatama Surakarta. Data collection techniques with semi-structured interviews and data analysis using descriptive qualitative. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that there are similarities and differences in how to interpret life in each subject. Age also becomes an influence for the subject to interpret his life. Subjects aged ± 15-18 years can better interpret their lives when they can return to their families, because at that age they still need guidance and supervision from their parents and family. Subjects with the age of ± 45 years interpret their lives to raise and educate their children. All subjects both interpret life with the desire to be a better person, namely through positive actions. This is because each subject is a unique person, they have a perspective, how to express their feelings, and how to solve their life problems in various ways. The results of the study also found that the values ​​(both creative values, appreciation values, and behavioral values) found in each subject differed. The values ​​are related to the positive / negative perspective of the subject in responding to its limitations (suffering).
