Abstract

Islamic boarding schools are one of the oldest educational institutions in Indonesia. Islamic boarding schools have an important role in providing knowledge to the children of the younger generation, not just the exact science but the science of religion to form virtuous morals as Muslims. Based on this important role, the government was moved to develop Islamic boarding schools for students to be more qualified through an education and entrepreneurship training system as part of the curriculum in the Islamic boarding schools. The Bin Baz Islamic Center Boarding School (ICBB) in Yogyakarta is one of the salivary huts that has the opportunity to develop an entrepreneurial curriculum, so it needs to be redesigned to be able to accommodate educational activities as well as training. The method used for redesign begins with observing and evaluating the physical and behavioral environment of the user (student, teacher, manager and guest), so that the part of the hut that needs to be totally changed, is redesigned, repaired or maintained. Qualitative observations are followed up with the design process. The zoning of the building changes depending on the location of the main entrance. While the main entrance is there, the function changes to a side entrance. Additions to the site (expanded site) for the BLK (Job Training Center) function on the north side of the ICBB, along with housing for clerics and employees. BLK is not just for education and training, but is prioritized as a zone of community interaction with students and religious teachers, so that the presence of Islamic boarding schools is not exclusive, such as opinions that have been circulating. The ecological approach was chosen as a design solution, with the reason that the use of the natural environment around the site is very good, there are Opak Rivers, underground rivers (arthesis), shady forests / trees and rice fields.
