Abstract

This study aims to: 1) determine the level of student knowledge related to earthquake disaster mitigation before using geospatial information-based instructional media, 2) find out the effect of using geospatial information as a instructional media to increase student knowledge related to earthquake disaster mitigation. This type of research is an experiment with a quantitative approach using True Experimental Design (a truly experimental) carried out by the design of the Pretest-Postest Control Group. The population in the study were all of the eleventh social grade in SMA Negeri 1 Wedi which numbered 3 classes with 66 students. This study used 2 classes as samples. Determination of samples is done by using purposive sampling sampling technique. The sample was divided into 2 groups, 1 group as the control class and 1 group as the experimental class. Data collection was done using pretest and posttest. Data analysis techniques used were the T test (t-test) and N-Gain Score. The results of the T test (t-test) at the pretest and posttest of the control class and the experimental class showed the results of Sig. 2-tailed is 0,000 which means that the value is smaller than 0.05 so H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. It can be concluded that there is an increase in learning outcomes of the elevent grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Wedi for learning natural disaster mitigation material. Comparison of improvement in learning outcomes shows the average value of N-Gain Score for the control class with the lecture learning method of 0.457 and the experimental class by applying geospatial information as an instructional media of 0.649, both of which are included in the "MEDIUM" category. Increasing the learning outcomes of the experimental class is higher than the control class. In conclusion, the application of geospatial information as an instructional media in earthquake disaster mitigation material is effective in improving student learning outcomes.
